I promise, there will be a very interesting, very different, and VERY FREEEEE promotion for each and any of you out there.

Stamping with my Friends

The day was dreadful and yet, it ended on a very nice note:  Amy, Kaylie and Madison came over for Card Buffet.  Around 7pm they arrived on their ATV, bundled up in warm clothes and ready to stamp.
It is nice that we were able to get together, they enjoyed it a lot and so did I!
They made the full set of 12 cards, Mom and her 8 and 10 year old working together.  I am so proud of them!

Have a good evening and a nice weekend.

Hugs,

Christine

This is what it looked like at 9.30am

and at 2.20pm it looks like that.

Time to play with my stamping toys - talk to you soon!

Memories of Delft, The Netherlands

The other day I saw a card made by Tamara Bertram. Check it out here.

This card brought back memories of my visits to Delft, The Netherlands. Our tole painting club went to Delft to the Royal Delft Pottery every year - we all got to paint our own personal tile in original Delft blue. It was so much fun and just thinking of it makes me homesick for good old Europe .....

And this is my take on Tamara's idea:

I used Confetti White cardstock as base, layered Not Quite Navy and Whisper White, used Not Quite Navy ink. The brad is a Basic Gray Glimmer Brad. The stamp sets used are Delicate Doilies and Vintage Vogue

I hope you like my card. I'd love to show you how to make it.
Leave me a comment. Thank you.

Christine

A Message from a Birdie

I made this card with sunshine and warmth in mind.
... and guess what: The sun is back. It is -13 Celsius, but I should not push my luck by asking for too much.

Leave me a comment, if you like it.

An Armour of Ice

Due to the bad weather I spent most of the day in my Stampin' Cabin. Working away, doing some bookkeeping, cleaning up, and so on.
Eventually my stomach was telling me it's supper time and I opened the door to head back to the house: THE WHOLE OUTSIDE IS COVERED IN 1/2"INCH OF ICE I decided to inch my way off the stairs on my behind, then stepped into the snowbank and hopped over to the back steps. slipping and sliding for the last few meters. What a sight that must have been! I am now inside, safe and dry.
I have never ever seen that kind of weather before.

Good night to All!

Stamping on a "Freezing Rain Day"

What a drastic change in weather - this morning we are at + 3 Celsius, two days ago we had a frosty -29 Celsius. Looking out toward the lake I see nothing, just fog.
I am going to have take mood-booster - heading to my craft cabin right now.
This is what's so good about stamping and paper crafting: Within a few minutes you feel relaxed and excited working with inks, stamps, cardstock. It's all about making a little something with your own hands.... It feels like walking in sunshine when you are doing it.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Kiera's Birthday Party

On January 7th a very special and beautiful girl turned 10.
I was asked to help make her party a success.
The girls made two projects, and we had lots of fun. Kudos to Shelley for keeping them all organized and for helping me. It would not have been as easy without her.

The design of the journal belongs to Tamara Bertram. You can see it here
Thanks for the idea Tamara.

The "Magnetic Boxes" - from Stampin'Up! clearance rack - were decorated with flowers and glimmer brads.

Thanks for a fun afternoon Kiera and Shelley!

Christine

Birthday Cupcake Duo

Today was a good day to stay inside, as we experienced freezing rain and snowfall in our region. It was the perfect time to work in my stampin cabin. I finished the last 3 cards and am proud to report that 12 boxes are ready to go on the Card Buffet table.
I decided to add an additional date to my calendar: Monday, 16 January, starting at 9.30am - Early Bird Session - January Card Buffet. I already have several bookings, time is flexible to accommodate all my customers as best as I can.

Card #12 - Birthday Cupcake Duo, pick your colour - blue or red.

Please leave me a comment, I'd love to get some feedback.

Good night everyone, be save and sleep well.

Hugs,

Christine

January Card Buffet - Card #3

The clock is ticking and it is time to register for this next Card Buffet.
I am excited and working hard at my designs. There are so many ideas out there and I have to limit myself to 12 cards. There will be a vast variety of design, colors and styles. Most of the cards can be used for any occasion, which I feel is very important ...

This morning I am sharing Card #3 with you. This design has been copied many times, I saw many versions of it posted by fellow demonstrators. The technique used is called "Magnifying Glass technique" and I can't wait to show you how easy it is to make this card.

And here is a close up of the "magnified image" ...

Trust me, you can do it. Come on over and let me prove it to you.

I am looking forward to your call or e-mail.
Thanks for looking and have a very nice day.

Hugs to all,

Christine

Q & A - January 2012

Q: I have a friend who would like to start stamping with me and I’d like to give her a gift to get her started. What are the best things for a beginner stamper to have?

A: Sharing the fun of stamping with a friend is one of the things that Stampin’ Up! is all about. There is nothing like the joy of seeing the sense of accomplishment and joy that a new stamper feels when she first discovers the art of stamping. What a great thing for you to experience with your friend! Some of the basic supplies a new stamper needs are stamps, ink, card stock, and tools.

Stamps

As much as we may want it all, we have to start somewhere! For new stampers, I suggest a versatile set, like the Easy Events (#116958 wood-mount, #123225 clear-mount) stamp set. It includes images and greetings for a variety of occasions. Plus, the Easy Events stamp set is ideal for your friend to test out simple techniques like
colouring, or stepped-up techniques like watercoloring.
Easy Events Stamp Set Project

Ink

New stampers don’t need the full spectrum of colours in order to get started. A couple of ink pads in versatile
colours or favourite colours are a great place to start. One of the ink pads I recommend most is Jet Black StazOn (#101406). The quick-drying, permanent black ink is versatile for many images and perfect for a variety of techniques that new stampers will want to try. Another great ink pad to consider is the VersaMark pad (#102283). Since VersaMark is a clear ink, it creates a slightly darker watermark-type effect when stamped on most any
colour of card stock. A Colour Collection of Stampin’ Spots is another budget-friendly option for beginning stampers who like a lot of colour options. Each Stampin' Spot Colour Collection includes anywhere from 8 to 11 ink pads that are 1” square in size.

Card Stock

Not all paper is created equal! Most of us have learned by trial and error that there is a difference. Help your new stamping friend avoid the frustration and expense of poor-quality card stock. She’ll appreciate the crisp images she can achieve with our ultra-smooth Whisper White (#100730) or Very Vanilla (#101650) card stock. Pair the Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock with an assorted pack of card stock from one of the Colour Collections and the Neutrals Collection, and your friend will have the basis for many beautiful creations!

Tools

It seems obvious, but it is important not to forget the basics like a Paper Cutter (#104152) and a SNAIL adhesive (#104332) along with a couple of refills (#104331). Once you have those basics, consider fun and functional tools like our great punches. A couple of circles that can be layered together are a great place to start because circles are a very pleasing and versatile shape that you can't cut by hand without making yourself crazy! (You know what I mean if you’ve tried it!)

Got to have it all?!

Do you know the best-kept secret deal in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue? It’s the Starter Kit. Yep - with stamps, ink, card stock, and basic tools, the Starter Kit is valued at $425, but only costs $215, making it a steal-of-a-deal and an ideal way for new stampers to get all the basics in one affordable bundle. Plus, when new stampers join Stampin’ Up!, they’ll have a whole host of great online resources, including an amazing online community of demonstrators for training, ideas, and support. Talk about having it all! Contact me today to find out more about the Starter Kit, including the limited-time extras and discounts available only to new team members who join during Sale-A-Bration!

CAS = Clean and Simple

Today I watched a video showing how to make a card, I liked it and I copied the design. I do not know the name of the original "owner" of the card, but she is a fellow Stampin'Up demonstrator. I will give credit as soon as I find her name.

I called my card "5th Avenue Rose" after the stamp set used - Fifth Avenue Floral.
The "Rose" will be Card #5 of my January Card Buffet.

I am looking forward show you how to make this card.

Have a closer look - it does have some glimmer and glitter.

January Card Buffet will be held o:
Friday, 27 January and Saturday, 28 January.
Check "My Calendar of Events" for more details.

Have a nice evening,

Christine
